BS & Bad Advice: Assumptions
It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.
Twain had a point. We make assumptions throughout the day that make life easier; for example, I assume everyone will stop at the red light so I can pass safely on green. I’d have trouble getting through life without assumptions.
But sometimes the assumptions we make cripple our ability to move forward in life. The worst part is, we don’t even realize that they’re assumptions. They’re just “the way things are”. Is it better to as for permission or for forgiveness? Is talent or effort more important? Is free choice better than limited choice?
I’m not going to answer any of those questions. But I will tackle some others in Episode 2: Assumptions.
